The Who and Why of it All

Introductory blogposts seldom make interesting reading. But an introduction is essential to the grander scheme of things. A fervent admirer when retracing his fandom might choose to revisit the amateur foundations of this site.

The Who: Employed in the IT Industry (how conventional), part of a Financial Firm, and as expected, an Engineer. Reads books, loves comics, plays scrabble, and of late, watches plays.

The Why: Being part of a lifestyle that entails leaving home at 7 am, reaching home post 9 pm and having to stare at a computer screen all day long leaves one wondering exactly where along the way you dropped your bloody personality.

Any corporate lifestyle exacts from the individual certain freedoms, like the ability to wake up at any time in the morning (or the night). It also demands certain norms like the ability to NOT swear loudly while speaking to a person across in the room, and in many cases, not speaking to the person across the room at all. While some institutions are liberal in their policies and do allow their employees a certain latitude in their opinions about the weather, one is advised to refrain just in case the speculation causes high volatility in the derivatives market.

Any attempt to add a little flavour results in one of three pursuits
1) Comic Books
2) Normal Books
3) Plays (the Theatre for want of a fancier word)

The downside to any above activiity is that the inability to vent normal opinions results in having extremely strong opinions about stuff like plays, and results in me giving verbose replies when asked "So, how was it?". The furtive glances in the eyes of the poor victim leave me no doubts about my ability to effectively convince them that I did have a good time. This blog is the lack of an audience. It also allows me the delusional hope that somewhere there are millions who read and are enthralled.

Ranting to oneself stops being interesting after a while. Also, there is this deep-seated feeling that writing somehow reflects a little originality. In the past, I have mistaken garrulousness for personality.

The goal is a review a day. Something. Anything.

Oh, for those who wonder about the abstruse nature of the name chosen, I'm from Mumbai.
